Debating on getting lv3 in pally for the aura vs fear and to pick up paladin mercies

I'm planning on getting a third level at some point in paladin to get the aura of courage and the paladin mercies so i can remove a condition with my lay on hands as well as go up to a 2d6 heal. I'm considering a 4th level as well to pick up the oath of vengeance and warrior of the holy light abilities which give extra lay on hands and give a 30 foot area 1 min prayer boost by using a lay on hands use and also an extra smite at the cost of 2 lay on hands. I'm thinking taking the pally levels at 7 and 9 currently with an oracle in between them or just going 7-8 pally and continuing oracle at 9th onward. Any thoughts on this? thanks for any feedback

Right now, you are 2/4 (Paladin/Oracle). Your oracle has just gotten 2nd level spells. Is adding 2 more paladin levels giving you more power than adding 2 levels of Oracle. You would not be getting 3rd level spells until 10th level, as opposed to 8th. Ultimately, its your choice. Play what is fun for you. I could have switched characters to play a straight sorcerer, but I liked the abilities I got from just 2 levels of bard. Later in life, after the adventure path ends, my character will probably add back a level or two of bard. But not now. Right now, I am more useful playing strict sorcerer.

This is how I look at it.

Over the next two levels, Oracle will give you access to 3rd lvl cleric spells. Not much else, but access to a whole new spell list, imo, is worth more than fear immunity or removal of conditions, especially considering 2nd lvl Soothing Word spell. http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/s/soothing-word.
