The Avenger

It had been 7 long years since that dark night...the night that they were taken from him. The love of his life had been descended upon by a dark force while they were enjoying a trip to visit his sister in the wilderness.
He had been chopping some wood at dusk when the sound of a window shattering in the back of his sister's cabin alerted him something was wrong. He had raced inside only to find his sister bleeding profusely from a gash across her midsection and his love nowhere in sight. His sister had looked at him and uttered a few words "It came and took her, I tried to stop it, I'm sorry brother," before falling limp. He howled in rage as he held his sister's broken body and swore to find whatever had done this and kill it.
That night long ago always burned strongly in his dreams, urging him ever forward to find the thing that had taken his love and murdered his sister. At long last he had tracked the creature to a place where dark and horrible things were said to make their homes, and where his quest might finally end, the destroyed lands surrounding Tsar. He had tempered his body along his journey in order to be able to kill this fiend for he knew that their eventual confrontation would not be an easy one. He held on hope that his love was still alive somewhere and if she was he would make sure the creature would tell him where she was or at least the reason of her taking. He would make peace with his demons either way, but he could never extinguish the hope that the woman who had brought joy into his life might still be alive.
Regaining his composure, he rented a horse and made to progress to the camp said to perch on the edge of darkness, the last haven of twilight before the night as it might be.
